Lisa Verzier
Lisa Verzier — Postdoctoral fellow
Lisa Verzier is a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Billker Lab. She obtained her PhD from the University of Melbourne, where she conducted her research at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute. Following a period at the Pasteur Institute in Paris, she spent two years as a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Catteruccia Lab at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.
Her research focuses on host–parasite interactions, with particular emphasis on the mosquito stages of Plasmodium, especially sporozoites. As part of a large collaborative initiative, her recent work led to the development of a single-cell atlas of P. falciparum mosquito stages, uncovering previously uncharacterised interactions between parasites and mosquito midgut cells.
Lisa’s expertise spans the entire Plasmodium life cycle across multiple species. Her approach integrates large-scale data analytics with experimental parasitology to identify key determinants of the malaria parasite transmission.
